Christchurch Earthquake 22 Feb 2011
- You should read the Canterbury Earthquake
Response Website, containing a wide range of vital information such as availability of water and food supplies, emergency
accommodation and more.
- If you want to send money, the
New Zealand Red
Cross or the
Salvation
Army are taking donations.
- If you want to join the UC Student Volunteer Army, you can try contacting them through
their Facebook page.
- The UC Earthquake Recovery page on Facebook contains bulletins
regarding the University of Canterbury.
- If you're an International Student, you should
contact your
Embassy to let them know you're OK.
- Clubs' Day has been postponed or perhaps cancelled. If you want to join, we do still intend to run recruitment
and induction, it's just been postponed for now. The University of Canterbury isn't expected to reopen until at least the 14th
of March.
- Remember; boil your water, steralize it, or collect
rainwater. There may be contamination of the water supply. In the same vein you should take all practical steps to conserve
water, as supply has been interupted over much of the city. If you have no running water, turn off your hot water cylinder
to avoid a house-fire.

The Dictator for 2011 is Izzy. Izzy has so far been unsucessful in creating gold from base elements,
and rumours that she slew a great worm in the storm-drains of Christchurch using only a screwdriver and
her teeth have never been confirmed. Claims that she is afraid of pickling forks and the colour green are
nothing but superstitious nonsense. It is also unlikely that she provided the inspiration for the
"Carmen Sandiego" series of computer games, and she is probably not lurking outside you window as you
read this (although it might be just as well if you checked). You can contact her at dictator@canterbury.kaos.org.nz.
This website will be further updated in coming weeks.
